- There are 24 themes such as inventors, art, dinosaurs, planes, music, superheroes, the night sky, the ocean and many more.
- Each theme comes with a list of fiction and nonfiction books related to the theme, along with activities to do with your kids, recommended apps, and for Washington DC residents - a list of related places to visit.
- WETA, Washington DC's Public Broadcasting Station, partnered with leading researchers and experts in the field of reading to create these resources.
- The information for each theme is packaged into PDF's that you can download and print.
Start with a Book is a part of WETA's Reading Rockets site, a national literacy project that offers research-based reading strategies, lessons and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better.
